Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Fighters Table

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Soldiers Table Unveiled

Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the central cast to begin their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.

The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.

What Defines the Combat Party

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.

At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might look mismatched, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

First, the party knows exactly where to go next after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose passing started the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his own means, invading the secret base, attacking Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.

The antagonist then paid off his obligations and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each member has a specific drive to depart the metropolitan area:

  • Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, desires retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the region and advises that it is a nasty environment.
  • The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their position as important members in the influential clan could enable the party access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Additionally, The grateful character swore a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and The healer defied the powerful family and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
  • The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This means them few options but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.

What’s Next?

According to the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the warrior group will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Seekers and Schemers groups.

Audiences can anticipate learning which characters will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
